WWE Superstars Recap - 9/17/09

Next up is another edition of "Ask The Divas" which always seems so scripted to me.  Among the highlights was Eve Torres saying that the worst date she ever had was dating a guy with bad breath.  My sources tell me that this guy was loyal HTR listener John.  But hey, at least he got to go on a date with Eve Torres!  Also Beth Phoenix revealed that she dated a guy and found out he was too old for her.  She then reveals the guy was only 30!!  My first thought was "Well geez Beth, how old are you and how young do you like them"?

This weeks edition of WWE Superstars took place in Toronto, Canada. 

Chris Masters vs. Santino Marella

The show opens with Raw's contribution to the show.  Santino comes to the ring and receives a huge pop from the crowd as Santino is actually Canadian in real life.  Santino actually showed  a lot of skill in the ring during this match and of course he brought the comedy as well.  Chris Masters controlled most of the match until Santino "hulked up" and seemingly took over the match.  In the end Santino's effort was valiant but in the end Chris Masters wins with the "Master Lock"

Winner: Chris Masters

ECW Champion Christian vs. Paul Burchill 

The second match of the night pitted Christian against Paul Burchill.  Of course Christian received a huge pop from the Canadian crowd.  Paul Burchill has a new look and came to the ring without his "sister" Katie Lea.  New number one contender for the ECW championsip, Zack Ryder was at ringside as a guest commentator.  Sadly, his commentary was better than the match if you ask me.  The match went back and forth but in the end the champ, Christian gets the win.

Winner: Christian

A recap of the "I Quit" match between John Cena and Randy Orton is shown.  After the recap, Josh Matthews conducts an interview with Orton.  He says that at Breaking Point, he did not quit.  He made a business decision to preserve his body.  He vowed to make John Cena suffer at Hell In A Cell and once again become WWE Champion. 

Finlay vs. Dolph Ziggler

The main event of the evening was Ziggler vs. Finlay.  Before the match it was announced that Ziggler would face John Morrison for the Intercontinental Championship at Hell In a Cell.  A pretty good match between two of Smackdown's best.  Dolph Ziggler gets the win as the referee was distracted by Finlay's shillelagh.  A great win for Ziggler has he builds momentum towards his big match versus John Morrison
