***I have edited this to now include the actual call placed to the Bubba show. Click on the link that is embedded within Bubba's name below.***
I don't do news around here, I leave that to some of my esteemed colleagues. This is perhaps my first breaking news piece in the 10 months I've been here, but there is just something about
What am I talking about?
Well, it was first reported on B/R (here) that there is word going around that Karen Angle, former wife of TNA Champion Kurt Angle, is shacking up with TNA founder Jeff Jarrett.
Side note: Perhaps Jarrett does, indeed, have the stroke.
Anyway, a brief recap of what has gone down is that a TNA employee called in to the Bubba the Love Sponge show and using a distorted voice, told the shocking news about this living arrangement.
Side note: Is the bro code no longer followed, people?
It is now being reported that Jarrett will be off television for an extended period of time. He was not at last night's Victory Road PPV. This marked the first time in the company's seven-year existence that Jarrett did not run the show or at least be backstage.
Side note: I watched Victory Road last night. Jarrett may have realized how the show was going to suck and didn't want to see it live.
His sudden disappearance is leading many to speculate on the caller to Bubba's show. It seems highly suspicious that he would suddenly disappear from his show and refuses to comment on the situation.
Side note: Why don't these people ever comment on these situations? Don't they realize avoiding the subject only makes them look even more suspicious?
What I am thinking though is, what if this is all some convoluted angle being set up? Granted, it is in bad taste, but when has that ever stopped TNA? Could this all be TNA playing on the gullibility of the fans to cash in somewhere down the line? Something as lowdown as this can garner a lot of interest for a match.
Side note: Granted, a Jarrett/Angle feud has been done to death lately and we can do without one for the foreseeable future.
It was only last year that TNA used some heat from outside media to give legs to the previous Jarrett/Angle beef. Remember Angle's comments about TNA's dependency on gimmicks? Jarrett didn't take kindly to that and he fired back with his own interview with The Sun.
TNA then used the newspaper war of words on their Impact tapings and that's why I am thinking we might see something similar here.
If this is true, it's not a smart move on Jarrett's part. I'm not sure Angle's feelings on his wife right now, but it would be just a tad weird to have your ex shacking up with your boss several months after the divorce.
Then there is Angle's whole contract issue. Losing Angle would be detrimental to TNA.
I'm not sure where this is heading, but it has gotten my interest, so good job TNA. Real or fake, hopefully this leads to something better than Taz's debut for the company. (Man, Victory Road sucked hard.)
Side note: If it is later learned that Kurt Angle is sleeping with Dixie Carter, then it is obvious that this is a ploy.
